Faye Chiao 2017-2018 Composer-in-Residence

We are delighted to welcome acclaimed composer Faye Chiao as St. David's 2017-2018 Composer-in-Residence! Both a composer and a mezzo-soprano, Faye Chiao’s music has been described as “lush” and “exquisitely misty in coloring” (Tim Smith, The Baltimore Sun).  An award-winning composer of concert music, opera, and musical theater, Chiao’s work explores the intersection of music and drama. You may have heard Chiao's setting of Ave Verum Corpus, commissioned by St. David's, before – the choir performed the work under the direction of Douglas Buchanan at the 2017 Ash Wednesday service and the joint concert with Handel Choir of Baltimore.
