The Ensembles of the Parish

At St. David's, we value cultivating the musical abilities of all people. If music is a gift, then its power comes in giving, rather than in keeping; its joy from sharing, rather than cordoning off; and its love from fostering a spirit of education and teamwork in helping each person engage in music-making to the best of their abilities. To this end, we invite all music-makers to not only sing in corporate worship, but also to join the ensemble that best fits their experience and talents. If you are interested in offering music, please contact Director of Music Ministries Dr. Douglas Buchanan to learn more.

Vocal Ensembles

The Choir of St. Davids is a professional chamber choir, offering music at most Sunday morning services and Evensongs (you can visit Sundays in Song to see the repertoire offered Septemeber through May), representative of the repertoire spanning the history and scope of the worldwide Anglican communion. The ensemble has been noted by the Baltimore Sun for its "assured, nuanced singing," and has been broadcast multiple times on WBJC 91.5, Maryland's Classical Radio Station. Take a moment to enjoy some of their past performances and recordings here, and listen to their performance of two "Remains" from the stirring social justic canta Rise, with music by Judah Adashi and poetry by Tameka Cage Conley, offered at the 2016 Evensong for the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The St. David's Singers offers an opportunity for all youth (Grade 7+) and adult singers to participate in the performance of anthems and service music in Sunday morning worship several times throughout the year. No audition is necessary, and all skill levels are welcome!
